Relive the prodigious rise and exceptional destiny that Montpellier has forged for itself over the centuries. Take a thousand-year journey through the narrow streets of the historic centre to experience the very special atmosphere of the Ecusson.

Ashtanga Yoga is characterised by the sequence of postures (Asana) punctuated by the Ujjayi breath, chest breathing associated with different points of concentration. The postures follow each other quite quickly. This yoga is at first a very complete physical practice, becoming progressively a way of interiority when the practitioner acquires experience.

4pm-5.15pm: Guided tour of the "Hidden Icons" exhibition at the Pavillon Populaire
The Pavillon Populaire in Montpellier is presenting the first major exhibition in France of the work of Catalan photographer Antoni Campañà i Bandranas (Arbúcies, 1906 - Sant Cugat del Vallès, 1989) devoted to the Spanish Civil War. Hidden and unpublished for eighty years - until the discovery five years ago of his famous "red box", containing five thousand photographs taken during the three years of the Spanish Civil War - his work unfolds the complexity of the conflict and the intersecting tensions that erupted in the summer of 1936 and eventually dragged Europe into the Second World War.

1:30pm-6:30pm: Excursion to Saintes Maries de la mer - Camargue
Discover the Camargue and its special animals: pink flamingos, bulls and horses. Ponds mingle with the land, or vice versa, and people grow rice, salt and vines. A seaside town symbolises this region: Les Saintes Maries de la mer and its fortified Romanesque church, a Christian pilgrimage site on the Way of St James. Pilgrims come here to venerate the relics of the St Maries (Marie Jacobée: aunt of Jesus and Marie Salomé: mother of the apostles James and John). The gypsy community gathers here every year to celebrate the relics of their patron saint, Saint Sara. This village is considered to be one of the oldest Christian cults in the West. Free time in the town and on the beach. Swimming is possible, but please bring a swimming costume.

1:45pm-6:30pm: Excursion to the Clamouse Cave
Visit the famous Clamouse cave, one of the most beautiful in the world. It's a veritable Ali Baba's cave, with the widest variety of crystals (aragonite and calcite) in France, a sumptuous illumination of this fragile environment, and an original and enchanting show (jumper and shoes recommended). The visit lasts 1h30. Free time at the Pont du Diable, the oldest Romanesque bridge in France (1,000 years old) and a World Heritage site and pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.

Saturday 30 September

9am-6pm : Excursion to Arles and Les Baux de Provence
First of all, we'll take the opportunity to discover the Roman monuments listed as a World Heritage Site by Unesco: the amphitheatre and its 25,000 seats, famous today for its gladiatorial and bullfighting games. (Indoor entrance not included in the price) Then we'll continue on to the ancient Roman theatre, Constantine's baths and the underground galleries of the former imperial palace. We'll then discover religious monuments such as the cathedral and its Romanesque-Gothic cloister. Finally, we'll visit the famous garden of the former hospital and night café, painted by the Dutch expressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh. The rest of the day will be spent discovering the charming village of Les Baux de Provence, with its well-deserved nickname of "Balcony of Provence". This village, surrounded by cliffs, has a magnificent view over Provence. Its castle, Romanesque church, medieval streets and Santon museum will transport you back into the history of Provence.

Come and discover Carcassonne's 3km of double ramparts, its 52 towers, its chateau comtal, its ancient Romanesque-Gothic cathedral and its magnificent stained-glass windows. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and famous setting for many of the films shot in the city, we'll set off to discover its many hidden treasures, a real leap into the past (entrance to castle and ramparts not included). Enjoy a cassoulet, the city's famous speciality.
