Every year, students from all over the world come to study at Accent Français. At the end of his stay, we asked Abdul-Jalil about his experience at the school:
Hello Abdul-Jalil, can you tell us where you're from and what you do for a living?
"Hi, I'm from Ghana and I work for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as a regional delegate, in Cameroon and Chad."
Why and since when have you been studying French?
"I study French to help me in my work because I work in French-speaking African countries, and interpersonal / intercultural communication is a key part of my job.
I started studying French 23 years ago when I was at school in Ghana, but only for a short time. Then, eight months ago, when I was transferred from Nigeria to Cameroon, I started learning informally with my friends."
How did you choose Accent Français?
"On the internet! When I felt like taking a French course, I was wondering which school I should attend! My main objective was to learn and perfect my accent, grammar and phonetics. What's more, I wanted to avoid the big cities. So I did an internet search for "French language schools in France" and several results came up. When I saw "Accent Français", I immediately thought - wooow! As the name "Accent Français" implies, this could be the perfect answer to my first objective! so I opted for it."
How are the courses organized?
"The courses are well chosen and adapted to modern times, and the teaching is methodological."
What do you like best about Accent Français?
"I prefer the pedagogy. Participation and interaction and role-playing in class. I also prefer the intensive class because it offers the opportunity to catch up on any links missed during standard class hours."
What has this experience brought you personally and/or professionally?
"Personally, it's been an incredible experience! I feel exhilarated and can now call myself a polyglot! It will help me professionally in my work and I can now include the French language in my CV (curriculum vitae)."
What's your best memory during your stay?
"My best memories are the way the tutors take their time to make me understand accents, correct grammar, correct pronunciation and use words and vocabulary in the right context."
3 words to define Montpellier?
"Montpellier is a multiethnic and multicultural student city."
A word to our future students?
"Accent Français is a real place of learning! So make the most of every minute of your time here!"
